Topic:  Congratulations, You Are A Manager! Now What?

Speaker:  Ruth Ross Principal at R Squared Resources, HR Consulting

The number one reason people leave a company is because of their manager. This data point has been consistent for years now, yet company leaders continue to keep their heads in the sand about the issue. The fact is, every minute of every day someone around the world is tapped on the shoulder and told: “congratulations you are a manager”. Along with this comes an assumption that this new manager suddenly wakes up the next day knowing how to coach and provide feedback to employees, write effective performance reviews, handle a complex leave of absence or deal with a harassment complaint. Unfortunately there are very few people that instantly wake up with this knowledge. Companies who don’t make it a point to communicate with their managers and provide appropriate training for them are setting these key employees up for failure. Not focusing on the needs of your managers will ultimately negatively impact the bottom line of your organization.

Come to the meeting prepared to talk about the challenges you see facing managers today so we can share, discuss & ultimately learn from each other.

Learning outcome:

  • Learn why a manager is like an accordion…
  • Discuss how to get your senior leaders to pay attention to the needs of their front line mangers
  • Understand the three types of employee engagement and learn why one of them is a silent killer that is currently eating away at the foundation of your organization
  • Gain insight into the simple solutions to improving the quality of your managers
  • Come away with a list of the seven things a successful manager consistently does
  • Learn why “It’s About TYME” to Thank Your Manager’s Everyday!
